Drawing. Generally an artist uses some kind of dry material, such as charcoal, conté, pastel, pencil, etc, to draw on some surface usually paper but it could be anything: wood, board, fabric, etc. As with all mediums, an artist chooses which kind of materials and their combination based on what kind of effect he or she is looking to achieve. A drawing can be a finished piece of art or an idea to be executed.

Dwyer, Charles Jr.

Always an individualist, Charles Dwyer's approach to drawing is very unique, seeking ways to add dimension to the image.  In some cases, Dwyer has stained his paper with tea, giving the appearance of aging, and this is combined with the Moulin Rouge figures connecting his work to the past, evoking the influence of the French artist Toulouse Lautrec and Austrian painter Egon Schiele.
