How great would this look in your living room?
You’ve only got one chance to make it happen, at 7 p.m. on May 19 at
Newbury Fine Arts (29 Newbury Street). Artist Opie Otterstad painted this
depiction of the Red Sox victory celebration at Busch Stadium after Game 4
of the World Series last fall. Only 204 prints (to coincide with the
winning year, 2004) were created, and these prints will be on sale at the
event, which is free to the public. The painting
is full of symbolism, both obvious and subtle. Click on the image to the
left for a larger version to see what you can identify (the Babe at the
top is an obvious starting point). Share your observations with other
readers, and we’ll reveal some exclusive notes from the artist on May 19
to unveil what he was thinking.
